CALLING OUT TO ALL 3RD RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE CHINESE STUDENTS!!!
Yes, the title says it all.
CC trip is simply a trip, yes a trip, organized by the Chinese Community Club of my residential college.
Well, before you guys proceed, let me just make it clear.
I’m writing this post from my point of view. So, I’m not going to follow what is written in the official documents or papers regarding CC trip.
From my point of view, CC trip is simply a day out to somewhere fun with your college mates for the very first time.
I was very much alone during the first few months in university and I couldn’t fit in, I thought into such an environment.
I’m a banana, meaning I can’t don’t speak much of Mandrin. Don’t bother asking me to read or write, obviously. Hehe.
So yeah, there was the language barrier bridging me from most of the people in the college, university to be exact.
I have never felt so alone before in my entire life.
For me, it was the language barrier. I’m sure many felt lonely for many other reasons. Difference of family background, culture, hometown, origins, blood type (?), etc…
Point is, I knew, at that very moment, like it or not, I’m going to have to spend another 3 years at this very alien place.
Trust me, it was very difficult for me that time.
I used to feel like crying every time I come back to the college after the weekend.
Oh yes, I used to go home every weekend.
Many of you must be thinking, “UM is so blardy near your house for goodness sake! Anything go home only lahh!!”
Wrong.
My parents don’t encourage me coming home that often (often like everyday).
My house might be near to UM but I still need to travel about half an hour by car if there’s no traffic jam. So, imagine if I chose to travel everyday. Pfft.
Waste of time, petrol, money, energy, blood (?), etc.
Okay, back to topic.
So I got the point that I’m going to have to stay for another 3 years.
And that was when I decided to find a way out of this loneliness.
Like it or not, I’m going to have to study in UM so might as well I have some fun in between, instead of dreading to classes, eating alone, just being plain lonely everyday…
Right?
So, I chose to be active in the society I felt most comfortable with.
And it was CCC that I chose.
And the trip was the first activity that I participated, that I really found friends.
I won’t go on about my CC trip.
It’s CC trip 2009/2010 that matters now.
So why should members of CCC 3rd RC join this time’s CCC trip?
Cause this is the first CC trip whereby we’re going over the sea!!!
The ferries are air-conditioned, considerably clean and comfortable as well. And it’s stable enough for camwhore sessions too!
Then, the island itself..
Pangkor Island. I don’t know about you guys but I am really expecting a stress-free, relaxing place for a trip after all the work load in university.
And Pangkor is seriously the place.
Well, the few of us went earlier to scout for the accomodations and I’m going to just brief you guys what we found.
More reasons to go!!!
The first place we went to was Pangkor Holiday Resort (PHR)…
The entrance was pretty nice and the pool, I know!! Like DAMN NICE RIGHTTTTT
I was pretty fond of this place until I saw the place they are offering for us to stay…
I immediately cut this place out of my list.
I mean, what the hell is that!!!
It’s worst than the rooms in block A for goodness sake!
And the person who was dealing with us was bragging about the air conditioner in each room some more!
I kept shaking my head to the rest of them but they didn’t really bother me cause some mentioned we’re not going to sleep much anyways.
Most probably some of us will walk around the beach or simply hang out at other places at night.
But I won’t!!!
Okay, I’m glad to say, we’re not going to that resort.
So, we went to the next place, while waiting for PHR to give us the price quotation.
We went to the Coral Bay Resort.
The place to eat
and part of the apartment.
Pretty nice accomodations, I would say. But the down side of it is…
it’s very crowded.
I don’t know. Maybe with a smaller crowd this place would be nice though rather costly compared to PHR but I really liked their apartments.
Anyways, for CC trip. Hmmm… Not that suitable. And so, we went to the next.
Pangkor Puteri Resort.
We weren’t expecting much as the building from the outside wasn’t that convincing.
The rest were pretty much decided to go on with PHR. I really REALLY didn’t want to go there but for the price..*sigh* And there were no other choices.
Until the lady in Pangkor Puteri, Miss Su showed us the apartments…
I know!!!
This is superbly NICEEE right!!
You have no idea, how excited I was at that moment!!
I was like,
“OMG! Got living room! OMG! Got fridge! Got stove! OMGGG!!! The balcony overlooks the sea! OMG! The rooms are dammmmnnnn NICE!!!”
Then she took us to the dining area…
So nice also right!! The best part is we can have the whole area to ourselves!
Got a mini bar, pool table, karaoke area and (AHHHHH) the place was just so cosy!
Got one hall for us to use and a field for games to be conducted as well!!
What more, its like a stone’s throw away from the beach!
I’m not exaggerating!
Join us at CC trip, then go to your room and throw a stone to the beach just to challenge what I just said!!!
And so, with the price quoted by Miss Su, we decided on Pangkor Puteri Resort.
Oh! I haven’t tell you guys the quotations yet.
PHR (Stupid haunted-looking dorms that are even smaller than rooms in block A) – RM 105
Coral Bay (Nice rooms but very crowded) – RM 165 (waaaayyyy over budget)
PANGKOR PUTERI RESORT – RM 95 ONLYYYY!!!!
Everything included, except the bus fare from UM to Lumut’s jetty.
Another reason why you should join us.
I don’t know about you but I’ve always loved the BEACH.
The sea to be exact.
After all the endless meetings, assignments, research proposals, tutorials, mid-terms, just sit and listen to the sound of the waves.
Then there’s the sea breeze, leaving a warm but sticky feeling on your skin as they blew.
The incredibly nice blue-ish, green-ish colour of the sea water.
Sigh.
You get what I mean now? Don’t you feel like signing up for CC trip already???
If it’s still not convincing enough, the ride home from Pangkor Island, if we get to ride on the double-decker ferry, the one with the open area, is breath taking as well…
I seriously can’t think of any other reason why you shouldn’t come and join us.
Worried about not having friends to accompany you there?
Hello, the whole reason to go CC trip is to make friends.
Okay, if you’re worried about not going to meet any, come and sit with me in the bus. Share the same apartment with me, if you don’t mind.
Oh, this only applies to girls, obviously.
And if you have financial difficulties, well, I don’t really know how to help with that.
Erm.. Borrow from some friends first, maybe?
But just letting you know RM 130 is incredibly CHEAP for a 3 days 2 nights stay in Pangkor Island.
Come join us!!!
If you’ve missed out on all the details on this trip in college, below are the important details:
Date: 4th-6th September 2009
Venue: Pangkor Island
Price: RM 130 ONLY
If you have any other inquiries, you can leave a comment here or contact LOUISE at 012-4270087
Well, seriously, do come and join us.
I am publicizing this not because I’m the Vice Director of the Chinese Club nor am I the good friend of the CC Trip Director, I’m doing this because I know how beneficial this is.
I went as a lonely, one with countable-by-fingers-HI, BYE-friends but came back with friends all over the college.
What more, I became closer with my girl friends or my sisters as I prefer to refer them as.
Because of CC trip I found my sisters, myself, and the reason to stay in college.
I hope all of you would, too.
