Bad News.

29 Dec

The official results just came out and baaahhh.. Why is it not less sucky when I already knew about it earlier? 😦

Last semester was the one I worked hardest but screwed up worst.

So much for majoring and wanting to have a ‘better‘ degree.

#1. 😦

But sigh, will I do things differently if I had a chance to do it all again?

Nah, don’t think so.

So no use crying over spilt milk ey?

I’ll just continue my Criminal Minds marathon then. 😀

#2.

I’m at Season 6 and I’m still excited about every episode! 😀

Eating Spree At Ipoh!

27 Dec

Holidays this semester have been real productive! Just after the Langkawi trip, the same lot minus XinYi headed up to Genting Highlands cause the parents bought tickets to watch veteran singer Jenny’s last concert.

Then after that, the girls – Jo Ann & Pei Ling came over for a mini slumber party at my place. We did a bit of economy boosting (in simpler non-economics term that’s shopping) but the sleepover was mainly occupied with gossips. 😀 Well, we do what we do best after all!

The next morning, we headed to KL Central to catch our train to head up north! To Ipoh! Liew and Vincent came with us too!

Clare was our tour guide and we went to the famous ‘Tai Shu Keok’ after unloading our luggages at my uncle’s place.

#1.

This is a must-visit place in Ipoh if you’re there for a food trip, like us!

This place serves really nice fried sengkuang!Everytime the family and I go back to Ipoh, we will stock up loads of fried sengkuang to be eaten in the car and home! It’s just too yummy to be resisted and so far I haven’t seen any of these in Subang or KL.

#2. Yummy fried sengkuang!

#3. Liew! 😀

Liew was having this Iced Red Bean as well and another thing about Ipoh that I realized is they serve quite a variety of beverages. Maybe I’m not that much exposed to KL/Subang food but as far as I know, we don’t have Iced Red Bean like that! Even if we do have them here, I’m definitely sure they don’t serve it as the same rate as Ipoh. 🙂

We had a really satisfying lunch with awesome fried sengkuangs and the best part is when we split the bill, each of us had to pay RM3 only! We all had a bowl of noodles each and a variety of ‘snacks’ at the middle and we paid for RM3 only! 😀

After lunch, we headed to Kek Look Tong for some sight-seeing.

#4. The two darlings!

It’s quite a beautiful place with the sculptures and all placed inside a cave. Too bad I felt a little awkward acting like a tourist, snapping shots after shots around Ipoh since it’s actually my hometown and I come back everytime there’s a festival. So yeah, in the end I didn’t take much pictures.

Nevertheless, I captured what needs to be captured! Like this picture of a sculpture at Kek Look Tong,

#5.

It’s really random but this reminded us of Lik Sheng since Pei Ling calls him shit. Haha!

So after Kek Look Tong, we headed to have some desserts!

#6.

#7. Tau foo fah!

Funny Mountain’s tau foo fah is super nice! And one bowl is only RM0.80! o.O Do you still get anything in a bowl for that price? And it’s actually really smooth and nice! Strangely, all my 22 years going back Ipoh at least 3 times a year I have never been there. 😀

And when I got back, the parents were telling me they use to have their dating moments there and one bowl only costs RM0.10 back then! Okay, that was at least 25 years ago, so 10cents per bowl is reasonable. 🙂

Our eating spree didn’t just stop at Funny Moutain. We headed to some coffee shop near the ‘suicidal building’ (as according to our tour guide) for some Ipoh White Coffee!!!

#8.

Seriously good coffee we had! Yeah, you might get it here but it’s totally different (to me, at least) having something at the place of its origin!

We were seriously bloated after the coffee so Clare let us back to my uncle’s place to rest a bit before picking us up for dinner. We really planned on napping but when us girls get together, we just yap all the way! 😀

Soon, dinner came and for dinner we had…

#9. Ipoh taugeh!

#10.

Ipoh ‘nga choi kai’! Well, when the taugeh came the girls and I were laughing to ourselves over some stupid joke Lik Sheng came up with.

Stupid but quite a good one. Haha! He once said Jo Ann’s like KL’s bean sprouts cause she’s tall and thin but I’m like Ipoh’s cause I’m…well, I’m well-nourished! 😀

So after dinner we were planning to have some desserts but it was raining the whole time so we didn’t make it in the end. We had a good time chatting at Clarence’s place with his mom then we headed back. And yes, again we yapped the night away so the girls especially, didn’t sleep that early.

The next morning, we all got up real early to have some dim sum for breakfast!

#11. Sayang looking good!

#12.

Look how much we ordered!!! Ahaha! It was really unintentional because the Ipoh dim sum waitresses got real good marketing skills so we didn’t get to cancel most of the orders.

We managed to stuff everything down and got it all cleared. Well, that lasted us the whole morning! Didn’t even get to go ahead with our original plan; to have some Ipoh Hor Fun after that. That afternoon, we hung around Ipoh Parade to let the guys get some eye-washing done. 🙂

#13. Liew & I

#14. Vincent & Jo Ann

The walking radio (Vincent LOL) suddenly decided to participate in the blood donation happening at the concourse area. He was saying something about losing weight, getting fairer and stuff after donating blood so he went without much hesitation. 😀

#15.

#16.

Seriously, his randomness are hilarious at times! Haha! Who would go for blood donation in the middle of a holiday?? And what’s even weirder is Liew also participated in the blood donation after that.

#17. Us, the supporters from the side.

Haha! Yeah, all we did was to just sit by their side and gave them full moral support!

Not long after that, we got some Ipoh cookies/pastries back for the parents and headed to the railway station to catch our train home. 🙂

#18.

All in all, the trip was seriously short and simple but I did have a great time with the course mates, especially the girls. Just spending the night with plain gossips and updates is good quality moments with them! 😀

Last of Langkawi Trip.

22 Dec

So finally, Day 3! We earlier thought of heading to the Seven Wells/Cable Car that morning if it didn’t rain. Unfortunately right after breakfast it rained heavily! 😦

So we headed to the Dataran Lang instead since I’ve been bugging Dad about the eagle landmark from the moment we touched down. 😀

#1.

I didn’t take any pictures there from the last trip so I made sure I make up for it this time!

#2.

#3.

Just look at the black clouds! Drizzled the whole time we were there. I was so afraid of wetting my precious!

#4. Family shot!

Yup, finally one picture with all of us inside!

Honestly, I don’t really fancy leaving my camera to a complete stranger to take a group picture.

One thing’s because I don’t want to risk losing it and second, some strangers may have complete likings when it comes to the camera angle and stuff, as compared to me.

Like the one above, before I actually cropped it there was this huge empty space in front of us, just picture of the floor. Even my parents said something like, “What’s with the floor?” when they saw it.

Sadly it is the only picture with the whole family in it so I guess it deserves a spot here in my blog. Nevertheless, thank you stranger! 🙂

#5. The kakak and adik Choong

Well, this one’s taken by Aunty Choong. 🙂 (Grrr..why are my sisters so mini-sized!)

More random shots…

#6. Tambah one more adik Choong

#7.

#8.

#9.

#10.

Headed back after that as it started to rain heavier. It was almost time to check out as well, so we prepared ourselves and bid farewell to the nice nice apartment at about noon.

Later it was some chocolate shopping and visiting at the Kuah Town then we boarded the plane home.

#11.

#12.

Came home just before dinner but I was having cold chills, shivering like mad the whole time until I was finally down with a fever.

Luckily I recovered after an almost 14 hours of sleep. Yup, you saw that right, 14 hours! 😀

Langkawi Day 2

17 Dec

As promised, Day 2! 🙂

So the day started real early with us having complimentary breakfast at the apartment’s lobby. It’s the buffet style but nothing really fancy, really. It was a bit too heavy for our liking, they served mee goreng, kuey teow goreng, and stuff.

We headed up north (I think) to the Oriental Village for the cable car ride. It was drizzling all morning so we were just trying our luck to see if the cable car is operating.

After a few wrong turns and a beautiful stretch of seaside scenery, we finally reached the Oriental Village. 🙂

#1. Aunty & Uncle Choong

Pa must have been really excited that day because he requested for pictures to be taken! I must be repeating myself as I say this but my dad is really against the camera for unknown reasons!

#2.

Just look at the sky. Sigh! It was still raining and the cable car won’t operate even with a single drop from the sky!

#3.

So we resorted to other entertainments.

#4.

Yes, like posing at the main entrance to prove that we’ve actually been there, just not the top of the whole thing. 😉

And of course, we ventured around the Oriental Village. There were rows and rows of souvenir shops, cafeterias and even an animal farm so we look see look see for a bit.

#5. Good times!

The two younger siblings and I decided to head to the animal farm in spite of the drizzle. So we dragged Mom along and bought us some food to feed the deers and rabbits. As usual, Boy insisted on going first so he fed the deer as I took this.

#6. Fei, Mom & Boy with the deers

Boy’s look is seriously priceless here! 😀

The deers were so hungry they were rushing to eat from Boy’s hands and he didn’t expect it to be so ticklish. The deers ate faster than Boy could pour out from the package and they ended up eating the plastic as well! :s We sure hope it’s okay. My brother was feeling guilty the whole day.

#7.

It was still raining at about noon. Sigh. We were just keeping our fingers crossed for the Mangrove tour. Hopefully we’ll be able to make it.

Rain, rain go away!

Oh well, no pictures of me yet ey? :p

#8. Co-pilot-ed throughout the trip!

After lunch, thankfully the Mangrove Tour fella, Ali confirmed that we could still go on with the tour so we headed up to Tanjung Rhu!

#9.

#10.

First stop was the eagle-feeding. Quite an experience because we usually see just one or two eagles but at that time, there were at least twenty or so. And they were just flying around our boat!

#11.

#12. Eagles at the boat next to us

After the eagle feeding, we moved onto the next destination, the Crocodile Cave.

#13.

Well basically, the Crocodile Cave has no crocodile at all though apparently it used to have quite a lot, which explains the name. I was actually hoping there will be crocodiles just by the side of our boats somemore. Hahaa!

#14. Heading towards Crocodile Cave

#15. Entering Crocodile Cave

We were kind of disappointed when we realized Crocodile Cave was merely a pathway-like thingy for us to move onto the other side of the mangrove. See the hole there? We went in, then came out in about 3minutes or so. 😀

Headed to the Bats’ Cave next and this, I was really looking forward to!

#16.

#17. Bats!

If you look close enough you’ll actually see them all at the wall. The cave was kinda disgusting cause it had that weird pungent smell and the bats were obviously creepy! So we didn’t stay that long and left as soon as we’ve seen what we are supposed to see. 😀

Headed to the fish farm then and I got to feed the sting ray with my bare hands!!! No pictures of me feeding the sting ray because I volunteered immediately and the camera was still with me. I didn’t want to go for a second time as well because it stung a little when the sting ray fed on the fish from my hands. I snapped a picture of the sting ray though!

#18. Mimi the sting ray!

We did a little sea tour then and it was pretty fun in a way because we were on the speed boat without life jackets and it was going real fast, then when it hit the waters, oh well you know how it’s like with the jet ski? My brain is too lazy to find words to describe it now. Haha!

We got back then and still not satisfied, the siblings and Mom left Dad at the apartment then went to Chenang Beach to do some sea activities. Yup! Activities like banana boat and PARASAILING! 😀

#19.

This is serious fun though mine didn’t turn out that successful and I ended up in the water! Got the parents nagged up until today but it’s all worth for the adrenaline rush and of course, I was saved by a leng chai ang moh! 😀

We called it a day after that and had dinner, again at some random coffee shop by the roadside. Visited the night market then we decided to get back to the apartment for some good rest after the adventurous day. Well, at least for me! 🙂

Langkawi Day 1

13 Dec

Mom planned for a family weekend holiday right after my exams at Langkawi!

It’s been a long time since the whole family had a real holiday like this so we were all very very excited!

#1. Uncle Choong!

We’ve decided to save the trouble getting a cab to transport all six of us to the LCCT so Uncle Choong drove instead! We left home really early but strangely, none of us slept in the car.

Probably because we were really excited and there weren’t much space. All four of us had to cram at the back of the car. Gone were those days when we were younger and could play at the back of the car together. We could barely even move a muscle now. =.=

#2.

#3.

Haha okay lah, exaggerated there. We could still do a few camwhore shots in the car. 😀

Stopped by at one of those R&R for breakfast then we reached LCCT! 🙂

#4.

#5. Trio at waiting hall

These three jokers pulled such poses when I told them to pretend this is a candid shot. Haha!

#6.

I was telling Fei to get ready for a shot when I give her the signal so this photo was taken like within seconds but yet, I still got scolded by the fella there. =.=

#7.

Boarded at last, and flew up into the blue blue sky. Weather in KL was seriously good but when we reached Langkawi it was raining heavily.

Good thing our plan for the day was mostly indoors so we didn’t bother much about the weather. 🙂

So after meeting up with a relative’s business partner, we got the car and headed straight to the Century Suria Service Apartment in Kuah Town to check in.

Mom booked everything online so we were still doubtful about the place. Especially after we saw the building from the road side, my brother and I were preparing ourselves for the worst. :-s

Boy, were we surprised when we unlocked the doors!

#8. The master bedroom parents took

#9. The middle room I shared with the brother

*ehem* Please excuse the mess on our bed. Haha both my brother and I changed into more comfortable clothes as soon as we reached!

#10. Fei posing happily at her room

They had two bathrooms, a kitchen well-equipped with fridge and stove as well as a dining table!

#11.

#12.

Well, we didn’t exactly plan much for the day so we randomly made our pick for a nearby kopitiam for lunch then we went to the Perdana Gallery. The place where they kept all the awards, souvenirs and gifts people gave to our former PM, Tun Dr Mahathir.

#13.

And I’ve only got one shot from that place cause I was too stingy to pay RM2 to use my camera inside the gallery. Seriously a waste cause they had really nice things, there was even a horse carriage!!!

So anyways, it was still drizzling after all that visiting at the gallery so we headed back to the apartment. Dad decided to rest while the rest of us accompanied Fei to take a dip at the pool. 🙂

#14.

#15. Us, the on-lookers 🙂

#16.

Yes, this is the pedicure I did earlier at Lisa’s place! I really like how it matches my new flip flops with the Christmas theme! 😀

#17.

Headed to Chenang Beach to see see before dinner.

#18.

Going to stop here first cause I realized it’s getting kinda lengthy. :p And the brother is bugging me for the computer so I will be back for updates on the next two days! 😀

Girly Way to Celebrate Freedom!

13 Dec

I’m done, I’m done!!!

Things didn’t go as well as I thought with my last paper (Monetary Economics I) but screw it, what’s done is done so I moved on and adjourned to the long ago planned movie marathon with the girls!

#1. Rapunzel, A Tangled Tale

I watched Rapunzel again and also…

#2. The Social Network

Well, yeah just two movies but considering the fact that we’ve stayed up to study for the morning paper two were enough to exhaust us.

In between the movies, we roamed around the empty Tropicana City Mall.

There weren’t really a lot of interesting shops there but we did have some fun in Toys R Us. 😀

#3. The 'Sayang' 🙂

#4. Our favourite Maid! 🙂

Definitely a day well spent before I headed home with my sisters the next day.

Oh well, with XinYi it’s impossible to head straight home. So we ended up at Mid Valley for lunch. The concourse area in Mid Valley is fully decorated with Christmas decorations as well so I took Fei over to take a few shots. 🙂

#5.

#6.

#7.

#8.

Found the best place to camwhore! The escalator to The Garden’s carpark’s got really good lights! 😀

Xin Yi’s outing didn’t just end at The Garden’s/Mid Valley. We headed to Lisa’s place @The Nails’ Sanctuary at Taipan to pamper ourselves somemore!

#9. XinYi getting her pedicure done

I got mine done too! But I’m saving the picture of it for my next post cause I purposely chose this particular nail art to match my new slippers! 😀

And yeah, if any of you girls are looking for a place to do manicure, pedicure, massage, facial, waxing etc etc I highly recommend Nails’ Sanctuary! It’s above 7-Eleven at Taipan USJ! Really really reasonable prices and they really use everything from OPI! 😀

So that pretty much wrapped my girly outing. Come back soon okay cause I’ve got updates about my holidays at Langkawi!!

Land of Monkeys

9 Dec

My university is well known to be the habitat of quite a number of monkeys. Four clans, as according to my room mate Elen. 🙂

I remember them giving me a ‘room warming’ during my orientation, ransacking my room mate’s Maggie and Milo. They even ate some of her clothes detergent.

What happens usually when they’re out is the girls will all start screaming while slamming shut their window panes because most of the rooms have got no grills.

Mine has so what I did this time was to take pictures of them! Just for memories sake since I’m graduating soon. 🙂

#1.

#2. It was coming closer cause Elen made some funny noises. >.<

#3.

Louise and Elen were just excited as I am but Moon totally ignored them. =.=

#4.

Where were they going off to?

#4.

Some went to the netball court for some tanning…

#6.

while some ransacked the garbage place to search for food or toys. 😀

DB100 Girls at 1U

6 Dec

I’m finally left with just one paper for the finals and I really can’t wait for it to be over!

So anyways, just yesterday I came back to the university earlier and coincidentally the room mates decided to go to 1Utama just for a while so I tagged along. 🙂 Unfortunately Tong had her Japanese exams, otherwise it would’ve been perfect!

Mom, Ce, Pa, whomever from home reading this, I did not plan for the outing okay! Moon wasn’t going to go without me so I just had to go for a while! 😉

Christmas is around the corner and I’ve always loved Christmas decorations even more than Chinese New Year ones so sights of these goodies sure brightened up my day!

#1. My favourites but I always forget what are they called!

Snow globes or something?

#2. All girls have a soft spot for these! 🙂

There were the Doodolls there as well, at the MPH fair so we goofed around with them a bit. Hehe!

#3. Elen!

We walked around some more after that and of course, we made a stop at the beautifully decorated concourse area!

#4. Caution!

The decorations were definitely pretty but to those who haven’t been there yet, please please PLEASE watch your step!

I was in my flip flops as usual and the rocks on the floor were uneven so I tripped over a few times. Yes, funny it may sound now but wait till you get tripped then you’ll know how painful it actually was!

#5. Felicia & Elen

#6. Moon, Loo, Hui Fei & Lun Lun 🙂

#7. The girls & I

So yup it was just a short outing so after having our McValue lunch sets, we got back to the university and I continued my battle with Time Series!

Well, miracle didn’t happened and as expected I lost the battle but I’m glad I at least did put up a good fight!

I just can’t wait for the examinations to be over then I’m off to a holiday spreeeeeeeeeeeee~ 😀

The Chosen Path.

2 Dec

It’s been quite sometime since I last posted something here (I think) cause I am in the midst of my second last finals as a student so yeah, typical last minute revisions take place and hence no time to do anything else extra.

It’s also been a long time since I last went out and do fun things probably because of the finals as well.

The ‘funnest’ thing I can think of is meeting up with the Loi few weeks ago when she was back at Subang. 🙂

As I’ve always said, my life is pretty much predictable which is also somewhat boring when it comes to putting pieces of it to blogging.

I frequently visit teycindy.com, isabellakuan.com, helenness.net and a few others and though I don’t know them in person, their blogs are just so interesting cause they have all those never-ending parties and events!

Nevertheless, I am pretty much contented with what I have and am doing in most ways.

Although Economics is not something chosen purely out of interest, I find the theories are mostly acceptable and hey, I have better alternatives with better pay checks when I’m a graduate in Economics.

Yup, I’ve always been very interested in event-planning, organizing balls and stuff but I’ve come to realize it’s more competitive in that sector and I don’t even know what degree I should pursue in the local universities if I wanted to head to that path.

I’m not complaining here, don’t get me wrong.

It’s just that it’s almost 3 in the morning and as I stuff Econometric Analysis informations into my already limited capacity brain, I can’t help but to wonder what would it be if I was in a different path.

Private institutions were never an option with pretty obvious reasons. So local, government universities have been my goal since lower secondary.

Thank God with a whole of luck I got into one of the oldest, (not sure if it’s still the best) university in Malaysia.

Hmm.. If I hadn’t been so stubborn and open doors for private institution, I might be venturing into one of those fields with less theories and formulas.

But would I be happier then? I mean, whatever it is, it’s most important we’re happy with what we’re doing right?

I guess we’ll never know cause there’s no turning back in life, yea?

And what we should really do is to make things better (suddenly cannot recall how you use that phrase, something about making the best out of life?)

So I shall head to my notes and formulas. Exam’s in about 5hours from now. 🙂
