Steamboat with the Choongs

24 Aug

Last Thursday, Pa took us to steamboat for dinner as my 21st birthday celebration. πŸ™‚

Mom asked me earlier if I wanted a party or something but I told them I didn’t have the mood for any celebration this year.

But I do feel like eating steamboat!!!

And so…

I especially like this kind of steamboat, instead of those in fancy restaurants cause the environment matters too.

It’s the hot and sweaty feeling that comes with it that makes it all even nicer!!

And my sisters and I can laugh out loud to Pa’s lame jokes as well.

If we were at a fancy place, we will have to be nice and polite. Urgh.

Anyway, as Xinyi was around also, we had…

I’m not a big fan of crabs but that night I enjoyed it very much too!!! πŸ™‚

Oh well, let me just post some random pictures we took from that night’s dinner…

Took this in the car on the way to the steamboat place. It looked like it was going to rain…

XinYi with the finally-grown-up-brother. πŸ™‚

Fei and I. Was wearing a dress bought by XinYi from one of those random shoppings we done earlier.

Did I mention she LOOVEESS crabs???

I took a picture of her mountain of crab shells, but I reached my limit on flickr for this month already. 😦

Then, last Saturday, we went for dinner at Chili’s!!!

It was supposedly for my 21st also, a treat from XinYi but actually it was another one of those random fancy dinners XinYi promised on buying when she’s on her generous mood. πŸ™‚

Either way, we had our tummies filled with good good food that night. Hehe.

Will update on it another time. πŸ™‚

Of 1U, Hokkien Mee & Fullhouse…

22 Aug

August 18th, 2009

Met up with Audrey, Danny, Fook Siang, Marcus, Jiun Shyong and Kok Hong at One Utama.

Audrey & Kok Hong

This was taken in some kopitiam I think in 1U.

It’s been some time since I last met up with this crazy girl. πŸ™‚

Miss you already, my short ah sou!

Then Fook Siang & Jiun Shyong bugged somehow made Audrey treat us desserts. πŸ™‚

My short friend here has a crazy habit. I’ll tell you what later.

We then watched District 9. It was so-so only.

Not recommended to watch if you get sick easily though.

It’s the way they shoot it, I think. The scenes keep jumping, sort of similar to the way they shoot documentaries.

Anyway, after that went walking around 1 U a while…

Kok Hong, Fook Siang and I were so fond of those fake pastries. They smelled so goooood and we were actually kind of hungry already at that moment…

..while Danny and the other two were getting tired of walking.
And not co-operating with Audrey. Haha.

All three of them look into different directions when Aud wanted to take a picture of them. πŸ™‚

After that Danny took us to somewhere in Damansara for Hokkien Mee. Yummy!!!

Half-of-the-group picture!!!

I told Danny I wanted to go to Fullhouse in NZX over dinner cause I see most of the bloggers blogging about that place.

And as expected, Danny took us there. πŸ™‚

Finally, I get to go Fullhouse! I’ve always wanted to go and have a look. πŸ™‚

And when you go to Fullhouse, obviously there’ll be a lot of camwhore sessions involved.

What more, with Aud around.

Meet my friend, Bosco Wong. Haha!

Nope Danny, that shirt doesn’t suit you.

the love birds, dunno stoning at what.

Marcus, feeding himself and his new found baby.

Kok Hong, mesmerized by those cute-looking things. πŸ™‚

There were really so many things in Fullhouse!

And I love the way they decorated the place!

The food there looked nice too!

We only had drinks though and I love my Mango Milkshake a lot!!!

Everything there was just so nice!

I’m definitely going back there again.

We got out of Fullhouse after all the fun and realized there were Disney decorations all over NZX.

And so…

we took pics with Minnie

while the guys started a fight with Donald

and got their asses kicked by Buzz.

Oh yah, I mentioned Aud has this really weird habit, fetish what ever you call it, right?

You see, she’s such a perfectionist, she won’t stop until she gets to take a nice (to her) picture.

Apparently she liked the table decoration very much…

And she demanded us to eat while she takes a picture!

I cooperated at first till I got so fed up after she continued waiting for me to eat another spoon of my black sesame ‘tong sui’.

Apparently the shots before that weren’t natural enough.

How to be natural when someone is standing in front of you with a camera in hand, ready to snap a picture of you, eating?!?!

Sigh, Audrey, Audrey…

Hope you had a good and safe flight.

Time flies, seriously.

So fast Aud came back and went back to the States again.

I Need My BFFs.

20 Aug

I miss the two BFFs so much, I’m actually crying wtf wtf out of a sudden.

It feels like it’s been centuries since I last saw them.

I miss Heng’s massages.

I miss Jess’s laughter.

I miss spending the whole night with them doing nothing.

I miss asking Heng weird questions together with Jess at late nights just because he’s a guy and we needed an answer from a guy’s point of view.

I miss pinching Heng just for the fun of it.

I miss sharing comfortable silent moments with them.

Though that rarely happens cause we talk so much sometimes I wonder if there’s anyone listening cause we all talk at the same time about very different things.

I miss them.

And for the first time, spilling it all out here isn’t helping.

Say Hello to FEA!!!

19 Aug

A glimpse of what the Faculty of Economics and Administration (FEA) of University Malaya looks like…

FEA's main building

…the lecture halls and the main building (round one)

FEA's new building

…the new building (tutorials are usually here)

FEA's batu caves stairs

…and the infamous ‘Batu Caves’ stairs of FEA

I realized I haven’t written much about my faculty or course mates before here.

Reason is, I don’t really like being in the faculty actually.

Not so much of the fact that it’s because I go there for lectures or tutorials but it’s because I can’t really fit in with majority of the people there.

You see, my group of friends from 3rd are all from different faculties.

Louise is from Lingustics majoring in French,

Belle is from Lingustics as well doing English, Hung Tong and Moon are course mates of Belle’s,

Elensha is studying in the Arts and Social Sciences Faculty, majoring in what, I forgot (heh), Mandy is also from the same faculty as Elensha,

Juin is doing Bioinformatics in the Science faculty, Pak Koon is Juin’s course mate

and Chai is doing Accountancy. πŸ™‚

Oh, I’ve got Ang, I forgot. Hehe. How can I forget my lai ma (nanny in Cantonese).

He’s my nanny cause he’s the one always reminding me to register my courses, assignments due dates, mid term tests, and so on.

But Ang and I always don’t get to register the same classes so basically I’ve still got no one from 3rd with me in faculty.

I’m not alone, though.

I’m always with three course mates of mine, who don’t stay in the campus.

Pei Ling, Jo Ann and Lik Sheng. πŸ™‚

But the four of us don’t really fit in the faculty’s activities so we usually don’t join them.

However, one fine day, Lik Sheng suddenly called and persuaded, forced, asked me to go the FEA Nite.

And so, I went.

…the love birds, Jo Ann and Lik Sheng, the bully.

…Christine and Pei Ling.

Liew and Kai Yang, too but I don’t have their pictures now.

There are other pictures from that night but it’s all in Lik Sheng’s selfish, kiam sap phone.

His Iphone which doesn’t allow photo-bluetooth-ing to other phones. ish.

Overall, FEA Nite is okay..

Despite the fact that they should have gotten a better emcee. And the not-so-alive-crowd. Didn’t even cheer for Jason and his band’s outstanding performance. swt.

But I’m glad I went.

Cause it was the first time I feel so happy being in the faculty or the faculty’s activity.

I’m sure it’s because of the people I went with.

I’m glad I went cause I got the chance to get to know them better. πŸ™‚

And the yumcha session at Old Town plus the gossip bonding session at Christine and the rest’s place was superb!

And so, I hope I’ll be more semangat-ed to go to classes next time since I’m starting to fit in to the faculty.

Hopefully lah. πŸ˜€

CC Trip 09/10

17 Aug

Yes, the title says it all.

CC trip is simply a trip, yes a trip, organized by the Chinese Community Club of my residential college.

Well, before you guys proceed, let me just make it clear.

I’m writing this post from my point of view. So, I’m not going to follow what is written in the official documents or papers regarding CC trip. πŸ™‚

From my point of view, CC trip is simply a day out to somewhere fun with your college mates for the very first time.

I was very much alone during the first few months in university and I couldn’t fit in, I thought into such an environment.

I’m a banana, meaning I can’t don’t speak much of Mandrin. Don’t bother asking me to read or write, obviously. Hehe.

So yeah, there was the language barrier bridging me from most of the people in the college, university to be exact.

I have never felt so alone before in my entire life.

For me, it was the language barrier. I’m sure many felt lonely for many other reasons. Difference of family background, culture, hometown, origins, blood type (?), etc…

Point is, I knew, at that very moment, like it or not, I’m going to have to spend another 3 years at this very alien place.

Trust me, it was very difficult for me that time.

I used to feel like crying every time I come back to the college after the weekend.

Oh yes, I used to go home every weekend.

Many of you must be thinking, “UM is so blardy near your house for goodness sake! Anything go home only lahh!!”

My parents don’t encourage me coming home that often (often like everyday).

My house might be near to UM but I still need to travel about half an hour by car if there’s no traffic jam. So, imagine if I chose to travel everyday. Pfft.

Waste of time, petrol, money, energy, blood (?), etc.

Okay, back to topic.

So I got the point that I’m going to have to stay for another 3 years.

And that was when I decided to find a way out of this loneliness.

Like it or not, I’m going to have to study in UM so might as well I have some fun in between, instead of dreading to classes, eating alone, just being plain lonely everyday…

So, I chose to be active in the society I felt most comfortable with.

And it was CCC that I chose.

And the trip was the first activity that I participated, that I really found friends.

I won’t go on about my CC trip.

It’s CC trip 2009/2010 that matters now.

So why should members of CCC 3rd RC join this time’s CCC trip?

Cause this is the first CC trip whereby we’re going over the sea!!!

The ferries are air-conditioned, considerably clean and comfortable as well. And it’s stable enough for camwhore sessions too! πŸ˜€

Then, the island itself..

Pangkor Island. I don’t know about you guys but I am really expecting a stress-free, relaxing place for a trip after all the work load in university.

And Pangkor is seriously the place. πŸ™‚

Well, the few of us went earlier to scout for the accomodations and I’m going to just brief you guys what we found.

More reasons to go!!!

The first place we went to was Pangkor Holiday Resort (PHR)…

The entrance was pretty nice and the pool, I know!! Like DAMN NICE RIGHTTTTT

I was pretty fond of this place until I saw the place they are offering for us to stay…

I immediately cut this place out of my list.

I mean, what the hell is that!!!

It’s worst than the rooms in block A for goodness sake!

And the person who was dealing with us was bragging about the air conditioner in each room some more!

I kept shaking my head to the rest of them but they didn’t really bother me cause some mentioned we’re not going to sleep much anyways.

Most probably some of us will walk around the beach or simply hang out at other places at night.

But I won’t!!!

Okay, I’m glad to say, we’re not going to that resort. πŸ˜€

So, we went to the next place, while waiting for PHR to give us the price quotation.

We went to the Coral Bay Resort.

The place to eat

and part of the apartment.

Pretty nice accomodations, I would say. But the down side of it is…

it’s very crowded.

I don’t know. Maybe with a smaller crowd this place would be nice though rather costly compared to PHR but I really liked their apartments. πŸ™‚

Anyways, for CC trip. Hmmm… Not that suitable. And so, we went to the next.

Pangkor Puteri Resort.

We weren’t expecting much as the building from the outside wasn’t that convincing.

The rest were pretty much decided to go on with PHR. I really REALLY didn’t want to go there but for the price..*sigh* And there were no other choices.

Until the lady in Pangkor Puteri, Miss Su showed us the apartments…

I know!!!

This is superbly NICEEE right!!

You have no idea, how excited I was at that moment!!

I was like,

“OMG! Got living room! OMG! Got fridge! Got stove! OMGGG!!! The balcony overlooks the sea! OMG! The rooms are dammmmnnnn NICE!!!”

Then she took us to the dining area…

So nice also right!! The best part is we can have the whole area to ourselves!

Got a mini bar, pool table, karaoke area and (AHHHHH) the place was just so cosy!

Got one hall for us to use and a field for games to be conducted as well!!

What more, its like a stone’s throw away from the beach!

I’m not exaggerating!

Join us at CC trip, then go to your room and throw a stone to the beach just to challenge what I just said!!! πŸ˜€

And so, with the price quoted by Miss Su, we decided on Pangkor Puteri Resort.

Oh! I haven’t tell you guys the quotations yet.

PHR (Stupid haunted-looking dorms that are even smaller than rooms in block A) – RM 105

Coral Bay (Nice rooms but very crowded) – RM 165 (waaaayyyy over budget)

Everything included, except the bus fare from UM to Lumut’s jetty. πŸ™‚

Another reason why you should join us.

I don’t know about you but I’ve always loved the BEACH.

The sea to be exact.

After all the endless meetings, assignments, research proposals, tutorials, mid-terms, just sit and listen to the sound of the waves.

Then there’s the sea breeze, leaving a warm but sticky feeling on your skin as they blew.

The incredibly nice blue-ish, green-ish colour of the sea water.

You get what I mean now? Don’t you feel like signing up for CC trip already???

If it’s still not convincing enough, the ride home from Pangkor Island, if we get to ride on the double-decker ferry, the one with the open area, is breath taking as well…

I seriously can’t think of any other reason why you shouldn’t come and join us.

Worried about not having friends to accompany you there?

Hello, the whole reason to go CC trip is to make friends.

Okay, if you’re worried about not going to meet any, come and sit with me in the bus. Share the same apartment with me, if you don’t mind.

Oh, this only applies to girls, obviously. πŸ˜€

And if you have financial difficulties, well, I don’t really know how to help with that.

Erm.. Borrow from some friends first, maybe?

But just letting you know RM 130 is incredibly CHEAP for a 3 days 2 nights stay in Pangkor Island.

Come join us!!!

If you’ve missed out on all the details on this trip in college, below are the important details:

Date: 4th-6th September 2009

Venue: Pangkor Island

Price: RM 130 ONLY

If you have any other inquiries, you can leave a comment here or contact LOUISE at 012-4270087

Well, seriously, do come and join us.

I am publicizing this not because I’m the Vice Director of the Chinese Club nor am I the good friend of the CC Trip Director, I’m doing this because I know how beneficial this is.

I went as a lonely, one with countable-by-fingers-HI, BYE-friends but came back with friends all over the college.

What more, I became closer with my girl friends or my sisters as I prefer to refer them as.

Because of CC trip I found my sisters, myself, and the reason to stay in college.

I hope all of you would, too. πŸ™‚

Doing What My Heart Tells Me To.

5 Aug

This morning surprisingly, I managed to wake up at 9.30am, in time for my 10 am class.

Yes, I only wake up half an hour before my classes. And I am still earlier than the lecturer ok. Heh.

However, I decided to skip my Statistics lecture and stay in bed.

No, I didn’t continue sleeping nor did I wake up to wash up.

I just laid there, letting my mind slowly ‘wake up’, then finally went to the toilet to wash up.

Thing is, this morning it was raining so the weather was cold and nice. I just felt like giving in and do what my heart tells me to instead of doing what was right.

Then I went an hour earlier before the next class, which was International Economics Issues to have my breakfast at the faculty’s cafe.

No, that isn’t a routine. Besides, it was already 11am (obviously not the best time for breakfasts).

I just felt like doing it. πŸ™‚

After my International Economics Issues lecture, I had a discussion then I went back to college to get my notes as I planned onΒ going to the library with Ang.

Yes. I’m in the library now.

Just finished my Microeconomics tutorial and was planning to continue The Wealth of Nations I just borrowed yesterday till this urge came in.

I felt like letting it out.

I’ve finally learned to say no.

I said no to someone who came up to me offering an opportunity many would want but at the same time, many would not want.

I mean, the decision is between yes and no only, you wouldn’t get a ‘maybe’ for an answer for this.

Anyway, point is, it was a hard time for me making this decision.

I’ve always wanted to be part of them since I first came into UM.

Serious. When I saw them in DTC during MHS I told myself I’m going to try to be one of them.

Unfortunately, after what I’ve been through these few months, I feel that I’ve had enough.

I finally chose to be an ordinary student,Β to goΒ to lectures, finishing up tutorials, assignments and presentations on time and finally having enough time to revise for finals.

I finally chose to spend the night chatting, gossipping, laughing, grabbing asses and ‘Sahur-ing’ with friendsΒ instead of sitting in a meeting with work mates.

I finally chose to go home on weekends, every weekend if possible.

Part of me hates this selfish act of mine but a bigger part of me tells me to follow what my heart desires most.

And I finally did.

Did what my heart told me to.

Me No Like Meetings.

2 Aug

Last week, I had a pretty hectic week. I had classes during the day then meetings at night.

Yes, every night.

I felt really tired but not the after-sleep-feel-better kind of tired.

Just tired of everything and I felt like putting a full stop to all of it.

Not my classes, of course. Not like I can do that even if I really wanted to. Hehe.

However, I managed to pull it through all thanks to a few people who did a few random things that brought ‘me’ back again.

The crazy me who laughs really loud regardless of where I am. Usually the laughters are louder cause if Jess was with me she’d laugh along. Sometimes even louder

Sorry for the blur picture.

This happened one night when a moth flew into our room and we were all screaming and/or running away from it.

Thank God we have someone brave in our room, Louise. She took a box and tried to catch the moth then planned on releasing it outside.

The funny part was, she was so brave and was even laughing at us for being such cowards till she caught the moth the way she did in the picture.

She didn’t actually planned on the bringing out part. Obviously if she lifted the box up the moth will fly out again.

Then, she started freaking out. πŸ˜€

We joked about Louise having to hold onto the box the whole night till we come up with a better idea.

I forgot what happened in the end, I think Moon came up with a better solution. Hehe.

This was during our trip to the night market. It was last two weeks actually but I still smile whenever I see these pictures.

We spent about half an hour at the playground, playing with the swings, slides, and see-saw, laughing really hard.

I guess sometimes being childish and random is still the best way to have fun. πŸ™‚

Another thing that always make me happy is watching these two people talk.

They’re like the best comedians ever and the lamest, of course.

There was one night, after one of those boring meetings, I laid down on the floor and watched them talked, joked about things, teased each other, molested each other, wrestled and molest some more till I laughed so hard, I actually cried. Hahaha!

I shall try to video them one day. That picture wasn’t that convincing I know.

Finally, I sought help from the said girl’s best friend.

I hate meetings and all the commitments I have out of a sudden.

I got to rush back tonight for another meeting.

How the wonderful right.

The Key

1 Aug

Yes. Someone’s turning 21 soon. Not that soon, but pretty soon. Heh.

Guess who? πŸ˜€
