A Bit of Here and There

6 Mar

Time flies way too fast and it’s just scary that it seemed like it was just yesterday when I was contemplating which university to go to after STPM then now I find myself at the crossroads again, to decide which field should I join after exams this May.

Don’t ask me why I’m in such a rush to work right after my exams because the question should be ‘why not’ instead. Why not start moving towards your ambition as soon as you’re all ready and qualified?

Oh well, not going to go on about that now cause I do know not everyone has the same ideology as me.

So anyways, I went down south last week for a short weekend getaway with the boyfriend and had really quality time together! 🙂

Well, for a short holiday Malacca’s a pretty good place but for long term, I wouldn’t like to stay there.

No offense fellow Malacca-ians, but I guess I’m just too used to the ‘faster’ here in KL. At a few times, I was so close to telling them to hurry up but decided not to since I’m supposed to be on a relaxed holiday. 😀

On a side note, I’m completely happy to be home now! Hehe!

It felt like it’s been so long since I got home and just do nothing. Not that long actually, just two weeks consecutively stayed back at the hostel. Haha.

And as usual, besides the Drama marathon, I kept up with the Choong’s through quite a number of meals.

One of the ‘special’ ones was Dim Sum breakfast this morning! Special because I was the one who paid the bill. 😉

Dad’s birthday is around the corner and I just got my prize from Bursa for coming in as first runner-ups in the Investment Research Challenge so decided to share the joy!

And joy to the Choong’s is by eating good food together. 🙂 Somehow Dad doesn’t want any presents and insisted on us spending on meals for the whole family instead.

Maybe he just likes to bring us altogether and eat all the way!

Dim sum at the Grand Imperial was great because it was my first time and the food is just yummy!

#4. 'Lau Sar Pau'

Especially this one! The filling is super yummy with the strong butter-y cream-y taste.

And later for dinner we’re going to have the ‘Pun Choi’ again! That will be Xin Yi’s turn to pay of course! 🙂 And speaking of the sister, she’s got a new look!

Not that obvious from here but it’s supposed to look like Tavia Yeung’s hairstyle because she’s so inspired by her after watching ‘The Rippling Blossom’.

Okay, I do realize that my post is so scattered and jumbled up with random updates. I think I’ve abandoned my blog for tad bit too long this time. >.<

Will hopefully come back soon with a better update. Till then, take care!

Reunion Dinners!

20 Feb

Many said the CNY this year felt really short but I for one think it should really end soon (well, I only came to this realization on the day before Chap Goh Mei or something) because it’s another excuse for people (like me) to eat eat and EAT!

First you have reunion with the family and relatives…

Had a mini pot luck reunion again at my home after we got back from Ipoh…

Then reunion with college’s Chinese Club…

#3. Upon leaving college...

#4. With Mandy & Mei Wei

#5. With the family!

One table with ten girls and that was the amount we whallop! xD

And then there’s reunion with course mates, members from PEKUMA…

Then just this random dinner my parents decided to go on with because it was Chap Goh Mei…

First time trying this dish called, ‘Pun Choi’ and I think it’s yums! 😀

But seeeeeeeeriously… I think I had a bit too much of reunion dinners. >.<

CNY Day 1!

5 Feb

CNY this year wasn’t as good as I thought cause of the accident and I thought I lost my ang pau!

FML it wasn’t just any ang pau it was THE ang pau my dad gave me. I searched high and low but it was nowhere to be found and I comfort myself by making myself believe I lost the money to gambling.

But anyways, I found it now so I’m a happy girl again! 😀

#1. Sisters & Mom at work

The annual thing we do each year on New Year’s Eve; to help Mom wrap ang paus. 😉

The next day, the sisters as usual dressed to their best again! 😀

They were in their cheongsams and I was pretty much casual as I was in the years before cause seriously, ask me to spend that amount of money onto ONE attire, I’d rather buying more casual outfits so I can wear ’em all year round! 😀

#4. With granny

We headed to my cousin’s sister’s MANSION not long after that to catch the lion dance!

Oh well, a little camwhore session while waiting don’t do any harm right? 😀

#6. With cousin Yiing

Then the lion dance came and did their thing.

I didn’t get to enjoy the performance as much as I had wanted to because I was helping my cousin with the video-recording.

It was my first time laying hands on a video recorder so I do hope the outcome doesn’t disappoint my cousin!

Then had lunch and snapped more pictures. 🙂

#9. Pa with the nephews

#10. Mom & sis

#13. With other fellow Choong's!

So highlights of Day 1 ended like that.

We didn’t do much of gambling though I managed to get my Monopoly Deal and gambled a little with that. 😉

And of course, for dinner we had home cooked vegetarian! It was exactly like what my late grandma used to prepare for CNY every year when she was still around.

After she left, no one knew how to prepare anymore. Well, except the maid who’s been with her for more than 15 years of course.

So the maid got back and cooked us some nice meals of vegetarian so we indulged happily. Not sure about the rest but I felt Grandma’s presence with us.

I’m sure she’s happy to see us all doing well. 🙂

Pre CNY!

3 Feb

Gong Hei Fatt Choy everybody!!!

I was really looking forward to CNY this time, probably because it’s been a while since we last went back hometown together, as in the whole family.

Or maybe it’s because I have by far the most new clothes for CNY this time! 😀

So much for the excitement, I’m home now. But I’m not complaining cause I haven’t had one of the best times at Ipoh this time.

Perhaps I’ll just brief along the pictures. 🙂

#1. Manicure!

Days before Ipoh when I was still at home was really hectic. Manicure, pedicure, packing, movies were all done in a rush but thankfully, we got everything done and was all set for new year!

Oh yeah, despite the rush the siblings and I went and watched ‘Great Day’, a local production and we’re all still impressed with their work! 😀

#2. Super duper yummy Curry Laksa!

#3. Chee Cheong Fun with pork!

Oh yessss, when you’re in Ipoh you must eat eat and eat their local specialties!

And of course, I had…

#4. Fried sengkuang!

We were already back at Ipoh on Tuesday but we basically laid around and did nothing. I was bugging the siblings to get Monopoly Deal the whole time but strangely, we couldn’t find it in Parkson.

It was only till Thursday or something that I managed to get a deck of it from Jusco’s MPH.

And yes, I did mention this year hasn’t been one of the best because some idiot actually hit our car.

We were not even moving cause we were giving way to a garbage truck, so we stopped at the junction and FYI the whole blardy road was so congested people didn’t drive more than 40km/h!

But this idiot came with full speed and knock onto our car!

His car suffered more damages I think.

But that didn’t make things better. Pfffttt.

So we spent the day at the police station before our family reunion dinner.

I guess I’ll come back with a happier post on the remaining two and half days spent at Ipoh.

Happy new year again!

The Regular Weekend

15 Jan

Weee! I’m back again, just after one day! And this is of course because I’m home so I have access to good Internet and keyboards with space bars that actually work. 😉

I’m mostly home on weekends, though I will have to travel about half an hour to the university after this.

I used to always want to come home to avoid doing laundry on my own but now it’s simply because I just want to be home.

So, since it’s a Saturday and CNY is in about few weeks time, we obviously did not just sit around the house. After lunch, the sisters and Aunty Choong headed to IKEA in search for a new shelf/cabinet sort of thing for the kitchen.

Just got my hair trimmed, did some eye-lining and I don’t have to drive! Wee! It’s sure a good day! 😀

#2. The driver!

Who’s always stressed when driving. :p

After some honking and cursing, we finally reached and shopping immediately started.

Did the regular shopping and stuff, nothing much but I won’t say it wasn’t productive! 😀

It’s always real good to be home. Heading back to the university tomorrow morning but I’m already looking forward to next Wednesday cause I’m coming home again!

So maybe getting a nearby university ain’t that bad after all. 😉

New Phase for the Youngest

14 Jan

Sorry for the disappearance once again! My faithful ol’ laptop has once again crashed, okay well not the entire laptop yet but the space bar is throwing tantrums and refuse to work so I couldn’t blog.

Nevertheless, am home now so I shall just pen a few thought here?

The few first few weeks of university has been good. I’m somewhat in the mood to study so I’ve been good in most of the classes. *pats self

No pictures of recent activities so I’ll just use a few really backdated ones. 🙂

The youngest finally moved onto another phase but before that, he had to endure about 15minutes of stress to get his PMR results.

I felt his stress cause I was with him and really, the competition in his class was really bad! Everyone was asking if they had gotten straight A’s instead of how many A’s. Not forgetting phone calls from cousins, parents, the sisters and more.

Nothing much about the school has changed, but there were names for every corner of the building now.

#3. Moment of truth!

Ahaha! Lucky he got what he wanted and managed to let out a sigh of relief soon after. Congrats you annoying brat! 😀

Just make sure you continue to work hard and not let us down! No need to thank me for the pressure! 😉

Last of Langkawi Trip.

22 Dec

So finally, Day 3! We earlier thought of heading to the Seven Wells/Cable Car that morning if it didn’t rain. Unfortunately right after breakfast it rained heavily! 😦

So we headed to the Dataran Lang instead since I’ve been bugging Dad about the eagle landmark from the moment we touched down. 😀

I didn’t take any pictures there from the last trip so I made sure I make up for it this time!

Just look at the black clouds! Drizzled the whole time we were there. I was so afraid of wetting my precious!

#4. Family shot!

Yup, finally one picture with all of us inside!

Honestly, I don’t really fancy leaving my camera to a complete stranger to take a group picture.

One thing’s because I don’t want to risk losing it and second, some strangers may have complete likings when it comes to the camera angle and stuff, as compared to me.

Like the one above, before I actually cropped it there was this huge empty space in front of us, just picture of the floor. Even my parents said something like, “What’s with the floor?” when they saw it.

Sadly it is the only picture with the whole family in it so I guess it deserves a spot here in my blog. Nevertheless, thank you stranger! 🙂

#5. The kakak and adik Choong

Well, this one’s taken by Aunty Choong. 🙂 (Grrr..why are my sisters so mini-sized!)

More random shots…

#6. Tambah one more adik Choong

Headed back after that as it started to rain heavier. It was almost time to check out as well, so we prepared ourselves and bid farewell to the nice nice apartment at about noon.

Later it was some chocolate shopping and visiting at the Kuah Town then we boarded the plane home.

Came home just before dinner but I was having cold chills, shivering like mad the whole time until I was finally down with a fever.

Luckily I recovered after an almost 14 hours of sleep. Yup, you saw that right, 14 hours! 😀
